If Horseheads School District closes for weather, then we're closed. If there is a delay, then we're open.


Welcome, families!

The Horseheads Family Resource Center is a fun and welcoming place for all families at no cost. Together with their parents or caregivers, young children make friends and learn through play. Our staff can answer questions big and small. With so many things to do, you are sure to find something your family will love!

Our programs are carefully planned to ensure that both you and your child will have a fun and educational experience. All of our programs are free of charge.

Playful Learning Program

The Playful Learning Program provides families with the opportunity to learn together through play. Experienced staff are available to answer parenting questions.

Parent-Child Mother Goose Program©

The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program© is a group experience for parents/caregivers of babies and young children.

It focuses on the pleasure and power of using oral rhymes, songs, and stories together.

0 - 5 years
Reading Clinic

If you are looking for ways to help your child get ready for reading, to help a struggling reader, or just to increase your own skills and knowledge, Reading Clinic is an opportunity for you and your child to meet with a reading expert and get on the path to success.

All Ages
Toddler Time

Toddler Time provides toddlers and their families with the chance to meet other toddler families and have fun together in a small group setting. Activities encourage development of social, emotional, language, and cognitive skills.

Parent Workshops

We hold various parent workshops throughout the year on all sorts of interesting topics. Past topics include Flip It!, Sensory Kids: Understanding Sensory Processing Disorder, and The Value of Play: What Children Learn from Toys.

Supervised Visit Program

The Supervised Visit Program is designed so non-custodial parents and their children can visit, play, and bond in a warm, child-centered environment while staff help them reach their goals and promote positive parenting.

These programs are free! Our Arnot Mall location is in the former Wiggles & Giggles location at 3300 Chambers Road in Horseheads, next to Olympia. Our HFRC location is at the First United Methodist Church at 1034 West Broad Street in Horseheads.
