Supervised Visits
The Horseheads Family Resource Center is a free, welcoming place for families to play, learn, and spend time together. We no longer provide monitors for supervised visits, but families, caseworkers, and partners may still use our spaces for supervised visits when they bring their own approved supervisor. This page explains what we do and do not provide so visits can be planned safely.
What we offer now
HFRC can provide:
- A neutral, family-friendly space for parenting time and family visits
- Playrooms, a gym, and quiet areas that help children relax and play
- Staff at the front desk to welcome you and answer questions about our spaces
- Clear house rules to keep everyone safe and comfortable
HFRC does not provide supervision, monitoring, or written reports for any visit.
What changed
In the past, HFRC staff served as supervisors for some court-ordered visits. We no longer:
- Provide staff or volunteers to supervise visits
- Take notes or write reports about family interactions
- Communicate with courts or attorneys about what happens during a visit
- Accept referrals as a “supervised visitation program”
If your court order or agency plan requires supervision by a trained professional or by a specific agency, you will need to talk with your caseworker, attorney, or supervisor about whether using HFRC as a location is allowed. HFRC cannot interpret or approve court orders.
Who provides supervision
HFRC does not supply supervisors. Any supervision must be arranged before the visit by the people involved.
Supervisors may include, for example:
- A caseworker or agency staff member
- A contracted professional visit monitor
- An approved relative or support person named in a court order
The supervising adult is responsible for:
- Staying with the child and visiting parent at all times, as required by the plan
- Following HFRC rules and any court or agency rules for the visit
- Ending the visit if safety is a concern
HFRC staff are available for building safety and support, but they are not part of the supervision team.
Using HFRC spaces for a supervised visit
Before you plan a visit at HFRC, please:
- Review your court order or visiting plan. Make sure HFRC is an approved location and that you understand who must supervise the visit.
- Arrange your supervisor. Confirm that the caseworker, monitor, or approved adult can attend for the full visit.
- Come to HFRC to play!
